Throughout 2023 we have continued to give voice to women of diverse cultural origins who bring us their knowledge and expertise. With them we have approached very different topics and have been able to learn about the reality of their organizations and the work they do.
Since we started with this project, we have dealt with very diverse topics as diverse as the associations contacted, although they have a common element in their cultural diversity. We have made visible initiatives on culture and education. We have given voice to women who have spoken to us about building peace and others have brought us closer to the problems experienced by refugees, specifically the Afghan families who have arrived in Catalonia and Spain in recent years. A recurring theme, obviously, has been talking about sexist violence, child abuse or the resistance and strategies of the gypsy people.
In this new edition, we have collected their stories and their knowledge, but also their criticisms on issues that have not been studied much or situations that they face in their day to day life. Always from constructive criticism and trying to highlight positive aspects in the headlines, in order to show the good practices they build.
We also wanted to create links with these entities to become reference points in communication matters and to support their needs in this area, despite the fact that, at the current moment: post-Covid and economic recession, they do not support much, and many entities are more concerned about its continuity. Even so, we have offered to provide individualized advice and with six of the ten entities, we are already working together.
The interviews have had quite a repercussion, so they are uploaded to the genre portal La Independent, a portal that has a high number of fortnightly visits (5,000) in its editions in Catalan and Spanish, for Spain and Latin America. And for Diario Feminista, an online newspaper for the Spanish State, where those dealing with sexist violence are posted. The dissemination via social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) of the three entities has also been important.
